Job title: Security Sergeant Supervisor
About the Role Responsible for leading and supervising Campus Security Officers on the assigned shift, ensuring efficient operations, compliance with policies, and ongoing training and certification. This role conducts performance evaluations, manages communications between shifts, and maintains attendance records and reporting. The Security Sergeant Supervisor typically works the evening shift during peak academic periods and adjusts shifts as needed.
What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise Campus Security Officers on the assigned shift; manage assignments, training, evaluations, and performance improvement plans.
- Ensure policy and procedures are followed; communicate changes; maintain attendance records/time sheets; prepare reports.
- Maintain a safe, organized office; foster positive campus-security relations among students, faculty, and staff; collaborate with Residence Life and Facilities Services; participate on university committees; assist with special projects.
- Stay compliant with local, state, and federal standards; pursue professional development; communicate effectively with employees, clients, students, and management; attend division/department meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three years of experience in safety, security, law enforcement, and/or emergency services; one year of supervisory experience required.
- Additional experience in supervision, loss prevention, traffic control, parking, emergency medicine, fire safety, knowledge of safety practices/procedures, hazardous materials recognition, incident command, radio communications, and familiarity with emergency operations is preferred.
- Relevant experience preferably in higher education.
- Strong integrity and ability to handle confidential matters; proven leadership and conflict-resolution abilities; excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Sign; valid Texas driver’s license, insurance, and good driving record.
Nice to Have
- Mediation experience; experience developing effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups; additional leadership experience; familiarity with emergency operations.
