About the Role Mayo Clinic Global Security Officers provide a professional level of customer service and security presence. A Security Officer will proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property and security sensitive areas and respond to emergencies and requests. What You'll Do
- Patrol Mayo Clinic property and security-sensitive areas; deter wrongdoing; assist visitors, patients and staff; respond to emergencies and service requests; prepare incident reports/activity logs.
- Operate two-way radio; may utilize a security vehicle; enforce Mayo policies; respond to complaints; work in Security control centers as needed.
- Adapt to unpredictable and stressful situations; manage altercations and emergency crises; assist with emergency evacuations, including stairwells and evacuation devices; coordinate with other emergency responders including law enforcement and fire/rescue.
- May be required to carry and deploy a taser; work nights and weekends as needed for security assignments.
- Maintain professional appearance and certification requirements; participate in ongoing training. What We're Looking For
- High school degree or GED; Associate's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related field preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in a customer service, military, security position; healthcare setting experience preferred; patrolling, incident report writing, defensive tactics, emergency response, lock/unlock procedures, door access, CCTV operation.
- Experience with Windows XP or newer and intermediate skills in Microsoft Office; ability to work with Security Technology.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication; ability to read, write, and convey information in a professional manner; ability to restrain potentially violent individuals and remain calm during emergencies.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; must obtain IAHSS Healthcare Security Officer certification within 6 months.
- Training certifications in AVADE Workplace Violence, CPR and AED required within 1 year.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to operate under stress and in emergencies. Nice to Have
- Experience in a healthcare setting; familiarity with healthcare security operations. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $22-$30 per hour.
