About the Role Mayo Clinic Global Security Officers provide a professional level of customer service and security presence. Officers proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property and security-sensitive areas, assist visitors, patients and staff as needed, and help deter fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and other security concerns. They may operate security vehicles, enforce Mayo policies, respond to complaints and service calls, and prepare incident reports and activity logs. This role requires calm, decisive action in unpredictable and stressful situations and collaboration with other emergency responders. What You'll Do
- Patrol Mayo Clinic property and security-sensitive areas to deter incidents; respond to incidents and assist visitors, patients, and staff as needed.
- Enforce Mayo policies; respond to complaints and service calls; prepare incident reports and activity logs.
- Operate a two-way radio; monitor security control centers as needed.
- Assist with emergency evacuations, including stairwell evacuations, and coordinate with emergency responders.
- Move quickly and safely in multi-floor buildings; assist patients, volunteers, visitors, and staff during emergencies.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor; work independently and as part of a team; be prepared to work nights and weekends as required.
- May be required to carry and deploy a taser. What We're Looking For
- High school degree or GED; Associate's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related field preferred; minimum two years of security/customer service/military experience.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; ability to read and communicate effectively; strong customer service and interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal skills.
- Experience in healthcare setting preferred; experience in patrolling, incident report writing, defensive tactics, emergency response, door access, and CCTV operation.
- Proficiency with Windows XP or newer and intermediate Microsoft Office skills; technical aptitude to work with security technology.
- Must obtain IAHSS Healthcare Security Officer certification within 6 months; training certifications in AVADE Workplace Violence, CPR and AED required within 1 year.
- Ability to restrain potentially violent individuals; maintain calm and take control in emergencies; strong problem-solving abilities; professional appearance.
- Must participate in routine training and development programs. Nice to Have
- Healthcare setting experience.
- Experience with security technology and CCTV systems.
- Ability to carry and deploy a taser (if required by assignment). Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $22-$30 per hour (hourly).
- Part-time, onsite position with the Mayo Clinic security team.
