Job title: Security Engineer
About the Role Luno is strengthening its layered security and infrastructure. This role focuses on maintaining secure access controls and robust security architecture to protect crypto assets and customer data across our AWS-based environment.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to security architecture and infrastructure security across AWS, encryptions, monitoring, and isolation between staging and production.
- Maintain offline/offsite deep freeze storage for customer crypto with Bitgo Custody and Fireblocks, including air-gap practices and multi-signature hot wallets with offline key backups.
- Enforce strong authentication using two-factor authentication (hardware U2F) and ensure access controls align with governance policies.
- Monitor security incidents and status updates via the Status page and participate in audits and certifications.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in security engineering or cloud security, preferably in fintech/crypto environments.
- Familiarity with AWS, firewalls, encryption, and secure deployment practices; knowledge of cryptographic key management and multi-signature solutions.
- Understanding of offline/offsite storage, air gaps, and hardware-based authentication (2FA/U2F).
- Ability to pass criminal background checks as part of Luno's hiring process.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Bitgo Custody and Fireblocks.
- Knowledge of Merkel Tree technology and custody-related best practices.
- ISO/IEC 27001:2022 familiarity or certification experience.
