Securities Lending Software Engineer, Associate/ Vice President

Overview

Securities Lending Software Engineer, Associate/Vice President based in Hong Kong within Goldman Sachs Global Banking & Markets, Prime Services Technology. This front-office role sits in a dynamic trading environment and supports the firm’s Securities Lending business through an end-to-end technology stack. Our team focuses on microservices and trader UX, re-engineering and automating flows to enable higher volumes across electronic venues with scale, transparency, and control.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative technical solutions to real-world trading and financial markets problems, including data analysis, designing, writing, reviewing, testing, and implementing scalable applications.
• Build applications used for inventory and risk management, calculating client P&L, and facilitating internal and external trading flows.
• Undertake development across all tiers of business-facing systems within a global team (locations include NY, LDN, Warsaw, Bengaluru, SLC, HYD, SGP).
• Implement and advocate best development practices to deliver high-quality software across the stack.
• Work with primary technologies such as Java, Kafka, Kafka Streams, SpringBoot, databases (MongoDB, Sybase, DB2, DataLake) and Web technologies (ReactJS, TypeScript).
• Develop a deep understanding of how markets function from front-to-back in trading, client flow, and transaction management.
• Build strong project management and leadership skills, and develop robust programming and technical architecture capabilities.
• Foster close working relationships with Business users including Front Office Traders, Middle Office Operations, and Back Office users.
• Develop personally and professionally while contributing to a high-ethic, collaborative environment.

Requirements

• Experience with stream processing and building scalable software with strong performance.

• Experience providing high-quality production support to a demanding user base.

• Experience gathering requirements from end-users and engaging in full project lifecycle with agile development.

• Solid communication and presentation skills.

• Demonstrated ability to multi-task (1-2 simultaneous projects) and work as a self-starter.

• 3+ years of Java experience.

• 3+ years of database experience (preferred).

• Experience with test-driven development and related methodologies.

• Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with full-stack development.

• Familiarity with build/deployment/runtime tools such as Gradle, Maven, Git, Spring, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms.

• Knowledge of Finance, Securities Lending, and Equities is a strong plus.

• Experience with project or tech lead responsibilities on small to mid-size projects.

• Familiarity with building and operating resilient and scalable systems.

• Some experience leading or managing a small team on a project.
