About the Role This role provides Securities Clearing leadership within Global Banking and Markets (GBM) at ScotiaGBS, ensuring that systems, processes, controls, and infrastructure support GBM's short-, mid-, and long-term business priorities. The incumbent will work closely with the Director, Settlement & Clearing to align operations, risk controls, and performance with business objectives. What You'll Do
- Direct and manage Securities Clearing operations to achieve high levels of operational/cost efficiency, control, and customer service.
- Ensure significant risk inherent in assigned operating units is identified, analyzed, understood, and controlled, maintaining key controls at acceptable levels.
- Drive a performance culture in GBM through effective people management, and measure performance using appropriate metrics and results.
- Manage workflows through capacity management and load balancing; develop and execute remediation plans to address underperformance.
- Collaborate with GWO senior management to understand GBM plans, assess existing processes, controls, and resources, and address gaps to support priorities and revenue objectives.
- Provide specialized insight to GBM on how operational processing requirements can be best met.
- Manage and develop subordinate staff to ensure efficient operations and high calibre talent.
- Ensure operational efficiency, processing accuracy, and regulatory conformity by developing and executing objectives to improve efficiency, identify productivity improvements, control, cost effectiveness, and customer relations.
- Develop/maintain an effective organizational structure and adhere to Management Control Program and escalation matrix.
- Lead or participate in training and development, and contribute to manuals, guides, and procedures.
