Job title: Section Manager, Manufacturing
About the Role The Production Section Manager (Section Manager, Manufacturing) is responsible for managing one or more specific manufacturing areas and ensuring production schedules, metrics, and product quality are met in-line. This role requires hands-on leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced semiconductor environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage one or more manufacturing areas to meet production schedules and metrics (Moves, Turn Rate, Cycle Time, Daily Outs) and ensure product quality in-line.
- Establish a positive workforce environment through regular communication and hands-on management; provide leadership to BU employees.
- Coordinate shift activity across the functional area and plan/schedule work assignments based on personnel, workload, priorities, and materials.
- Ensure quality and quantity of line output; ensure compliance with SOPs and safety requirements; counsel subordinates on operating procedures.
- Implement cross-training plans and identify/implement solutions to manufacturing problems; report status to management.
- Develop and implement solutions for emerging manufacturing issues; interview and train bargaining unit employees (screening interviews and resume reviews).
- Maintain shift liaison between Quality, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Production Control, Purchasing, and other departments.
- Administer Steps 1 and 2 of the Company/Union Grievance Procedure; serve as prime interface with the Union Steward for that action.
- Maintain control charts for performance of the supervised area (hot/held/stalled lots) and ensure familiarity with Standards of Business Conduct/Conflict of Interest policies; train subordinates accordingly.
- Maintain and train on 5S+ standards and enforce Fab Protocols.
What We're Looking For
- Four-year degree in a related field required, or an AA degree with Fab Operator experience. Industrial Engineering degree and semiconductor industry experience preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of management experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a Union environment strongly preferred.
- Ability to work a compressed schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday, 5:15am – 5:30pm.
Nice to Have
- Industrial Engineering degree and semiconductor industry experience (preferred).
- Union environment experience strongly preferred.
