About the Role
As Section Chief, Engineering, Avionics Systems, you will lead a team of Avionics Systems Specialists, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery and high-quality results for Bombardier's aircraft programs. The role combines people leadership, program execution, and supplier coordination within a flexible and hybrid work environment. What You'll Do
- Manage a team of Avionics Systems Specialists
- Participate in the recruitment and integration of new employees
- Establish employees' yearly objectives, evaluate performance, and make salary and career progression recommendations
- Ensure a positive, healthy working environment (communication, recognition, coaching, career development plans/opportunities)
- Ensure adequate engineering resources are allocated to tasks to support aircraft development and in-service issue resolution
- Manage and resolve priority conflicts within the department and with internal customers
- Be accountable for your group’s performance – deliver on-time, within budget and with quality to support business objectives
- Participate in the organization of departmental governance
- Provide visibility on execution, issues and escalations to your Manager/Director as needed
- Participate in budget preparation and manage financial resources
- Identify cost reduction opportunities
- Identify training and travel required to support business needs
- Develop or adapt tools and processes as needed by the function to meet organizational objectives
- Manage the Avionics Supplier(s) and establish weekly technical coordination meetings to meet program commitments
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor of Electrical/Computer Engineering degree
- 10+ years in the aerospace industry with a solid understanding of Avionics Systems requirements and solutions
- Experience understanding how these systems integrate and interact with the overall aircraft
- 2-3 years of positive management experience with direct reports
- Team player with strong organizational and managerial skills (planning, structure, prioritization)
- Creative problem solver
- Experience with supplier management
- Knowledge of Change Management and Configuration Management
- Organized, self-motivated and bilingual (French, English) with strong verbal/written English skills
- Knowledge of Continuing Airworthiness (Asset)
- Experience with both development and sustaining programs (Asset)
