About the Role The Camden Vicinage of the New Jersey Judiciary seeks a detail-oriented secretary to support Recall Superior Court Judges. This temporary position provides clerical and administrative assistance to judges and helps maintain efficient court operations. What You'll Do
- Operate a personal computer or computer terminal for processing information; maintaining the Judge’s schedule, files and records; typing correspondence, documents and form letters; transcribing dictation; preparing required reports; sorting and viewing mail, letters and other documents and following up as appropriate; facilitating movement of case-related matters; answering inquiries from attorneys, staff and the public.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. What We're Looking For
- Three (3) years of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services including keyboarding and one or more of the following: preparing and analyzing legal documents, processing legal or other documents, transcribing information, and scheduling meetings or appointments.
- Substitution: Successful completion of a clerical training program with a minimum of 700 classroom training hours or 30 semester hour credits in secretarial science may be substituted for one (1) year of experience indicated above.
- Course work must include typing skills; other courses may include, but are not limited to, office procedures, word processing, and business English.
- Ability to use a keyboard, no minimum speed.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and working knowledge of Microsoft Office is helpful.
- Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
- Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
- Residency Law: New Jersey First Act; all persons newly hired within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Exemptions may be requested.
- Background check: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. Nice to Have

- Salary range: Schedule A $50,776.88 to $75,758.39; Schedule B $50,776.88 to $71,970.45. For newly hired individuals, starting salary is normally at the minimum of the range. For current Judiciary employees promoted or advanced, there is a 5% base salary increase, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.
