About the Role

Cape Fox Facilities Services is seeking an experienced Scientist to support the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) on the NIH Bethesda campus by supporting collaborative research in the intramural community of the NIH. The role focuses on bioanalytical separation work and contributes to go/no-go decisions through rigorous data analysis.

What You'll Do

  • Initiate, implement, plan, and execute scientific research and development in bioanalytical separation (CGE, UPLC) and support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communicate project findings, draft state-of-the-art work, and act as project manager in publishing papers and presenting results.
  • Develop research findings and provide forward-looking recommendations to leadership for decision making; support outside technology assessment.
  • Ensure project goals are met within time and budget constraints; maintain detailed records and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams; travel 0-10% as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • M.S. degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in recombinant protein purification development for GMP clinical-phase products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Expertise in protein purification and characterization techniques: Column chromatography for protein purification (AEX, CEX, affinity, SEC, HIC); Column packing and testing; AKTA chromatography system; Lab-scale TFF systems; Qualitative assays including SDS-PAGE and Western Blot; UV/Vis spectrophotometer.
  • Purification development experience for GMP process development in biotech/pharmaceutical or related industry; clinical manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
  • Must be a team player who can effectively work with cross-functional departments; strong oral and written communication; familiar with word processing and data evaluation software.
  • Travel: 0-10%.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in clinical manufacturing is highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The total hourly pay for this exempt position is $53.33 for up to 40 hours per week. This rate represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
