About the Role BioMarin is seeking a dedicated Scientist II specializing in bioconjugation chemistry to contribute to cutting-edge R&D efforts in nucleic acid-based therapeutics. The successful candidate will design and synthesize bioconjugates, including antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), antibody-oligo conjugates (AOCs), and other complex biomolecules, applying organic synthesis, bioconjugation techniques, and rigorous analytical characterization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced research environment to advance preclinical and clinical programs. What You'll Do
- Engage actively in project team discussions to provide subject matter expertise and support progression of research projects and development of new methodologies.
- Work synergistically with multidisciplinary teams of bioconjugation specialists, chemists, and biologists to drive project success.
- Design and synthesize bioconjugates such as antibody-oligo conjugates (AOCs), peptide conjugates, and other complex biomolecules.
- Develop and optimize conjugation methodologies and purification processes.
- Characterize bioconjugates using analytical techniques including HPLC, LC-MS, SDS-PAGE, and spectroscopy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Biology, Pharmacology, Process Development) to support preclinical and clinical programs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and present findings to internal teams and scientific meetings.
- Stay up-to-date with latest advances in bioconjugation chemistry and related fields. What We're Looking For
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with focus on bioconjugation and organic synthesis.
- Minimum 3-5 years postdoctoral or industry experience in bioconjugation chemistry.
- Strong enthusiasm for scientific research and innovation; excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proven track record designing and synthesizing bioconjugates including AOCs and peptide conjugates.
- Strong knowledge of analytical techniques for characterizing bioconjugates.
- Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Nice to Have
- Experience in solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis and purification with a track record of successful project outcomes.
