About the Role The Discovery Neuroscience In Vivo Pharmacology group in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated scientist to support target identification, validation, PK/PD and efficacy studies. The role provides opportunities for people and study management, and independently running complex experiments within a collaborative AbbVie environment. What You'll Do
- Design and implement in vivo testing of multi-specific biologics, small molecules, and siRNAs to support Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease programs
- Identify and solve technical problems independently, and implement new assays and workflows
- Mentor junior scientists and provide scientific/technical leadership in in vivo and ex vivo efficacy assessments
- Ensure consistency and quality of technical reports
- Collaborate with colleagues at AbbVie sites and present original work internally and at external conferences; may author or co-author peer-reviewed papers or patents What We're Looking For
- BSc or MS in Neuroscience, Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, or related field with typically 5+ years (BSc) or 3+ years (MS) in industry and/or academia
- Proven track record in multidisciplinary in vivo pharmacology teams
- Experience with in vivo models of neurodegeneration (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s) and with characterizing complex biologics in vivo (biologics, small molecules, siRNA)
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects; strong collaboration and communication skills; goal-oriented team player Nice to Have
- Background in receptor and/or transporter biology
- Background in brain barriers biology
- Experience with ex vivo readouts including immunohistochemistry and biochemistry (ELISA, WB)
