About this role
Job title: Scientist I, High-Throughput Biology
Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.
Position
As a member of the High-Throughput Biology Team, you will play a key role in pioneering drug discovery screening assays using Eikon’s proprietary live-cell, single-molecule high-throughput super-resolution microscopy platform. You will work at the intersection of biology, automation engineering, and computational science to design, execute and deliver scalable, reproducible, decision-enabling biological data that drives progress across drug discovery portfolios.
About You
You are a highly motivated, rigorous, and interdisciplinary scientist who enjoys developing, optimizing, and validating live-cell imaging-based assays at scale to push the frontier of drug discovery. You are creative, data-driven, and skilled at problem solving in a fast-paced, dynamic, and matrixed environment. You are conscientious, detail-oriented, and organized, and are committed to delivering high-quality and actionable data in a timely manner. You are an effective communicator and teammate who is eager to learn and collaborate with people from diverse scientific backgrounds.
What You’ll Do
-
Design, execute, and analyze robust and reproducible experiments to optimize, validate, and scale up live-cell imaging-based assays for high-throughput screening using Eikon’s proprietary super-resolution microscopy platform.
-
Collaborate with computational biologists and software engineers to apply state-of-the-art computational and statistical methods including machine-learning to analyze large datasets.
-
Summarize and deliver timely, high-quality and actionable data to drive project team decisions across drug discovery portfolios.
-
Exercise good scientific judgment and provide data-driven recommendations to project teams.
-
Maintain organized and comprehensive electronic records of experiments, results, and protocols in adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
-
Work closely with the High-Throughput Biology Operations Team to transfer optimized processes into productionized operations workflows with well-documented standard operating procedures.
-
Collaborate and communicate across a diverse team of biologists, chemists, and engineers.
-
Contribute to the growth and training of junior scientists.
Qualifications
-
Ph.D. or Master’s plus 10 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of relevant experience in Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
-
Proficiency in mammalian cell culture with sterile technique.
-
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment relevant to molecular and cellular biological research.
-
Demonstrated experience in systematic optimization and validation of biological assays.
-
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with novel assay technologies.
-
Working experience in quantitative fluorescence microscopy and/or super-resolution microscopy.
-
Working experience with relevant quantitative and/or statistical analysis using common software tools (e.g., Microsoft Suite, GraphPad Prism, etc.).
-
Working experience with one or more high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB or R) to perform large dataset analysis and visualization.
-
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey scientific concepts effectively.
-
Collaborative mindset with the capacity to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
-
Proactive and adaptable to evolving research priorities and challenges.
-
Working experience in protein dynamics using single-molecule microscopy is preferred.
-
Working experience with high-throughput instrumentation and automation systems is preferred.
