About the Role Cape Fox Facilities Services is seeking a Scientist to join our team in Bethesda, MD in support of the NIH. This is an exempt, full-time position with an hourly pay range of $42-$58 for up to 40 hours per week, with a comprehensive benefits package.
What You'll Do
- Provide interpretation of results, guidance, and scientific support to the management team.
- Search existing literature for new techniques and assist lab staff in preparing documents.
- Mentor junior level scientists; train staff on equipment and techniques; provide scientific and technical expertise to visiting fellows, post-docs, and technicians.
- Design and conduct experiments; evaluate new techniques, instruments, and software for potential SOP incorporation; advance the science with novel procedures.
- Maintain lab equipment; calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments; train others in their use; assist users with experiment design, data acquisition, and analysis; maintain electronic lab notebook.
- Prepare technical reports and manuscripts; present research at meetings; co-author publications; assist in data quality oversight; perform bioinformatics and statistical analyses.
- Coordinate with IT and senior staff on instrument usage and software issues; propose alternative approaches; support resource planning and assay development.
- Travel 0-10% as required.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Neuroscience.
- Minimum of four (4) years of related experience.
- Experience in BSL-2 laboratory environments; manuscript writing.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques: Pipetting; Gel Electrophoresis; Library Preparation; Nucleic Acid Extraction; RNA purification; Nucleic acid quantification; Transfections; Cell culture; Western Blotting.
- Strong written and verbal communication; experience with scientific software (Microsoft Office) and data presentation.
- Ability to analyze data, write technical reports, and interpret results; excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
Nice to Have
- Travel up to 10%.
