About the Role The Science - 7th Grade teacher at McKinley Middle School in Cedar Rapids, IA provides instruction in science to general education students, supports student achievement, and maintains records in alignment with district standards. This onsite, full-time role requires collaboration with administrators, teachers, parents, and the community. What You'll Do
- Provide instruction in science to general education students and deliver programming aligned with district standards.
- Develop and implement science programming to be delivered in a classroom setting for general education students and align with district curriculum, standards and benchmarks.
- Implement and support the district curriculum, standards and benchmarks.
- Collaborate with staff to support students' needs and achievement of academic goals; maintain records and protect confidentiality of data.
- Maintain active communication and positive relationships with parents and community members.
- Assist in planning and delivery of social/emotional/behavioral school-wide programming.
- On-site duties as essential; meet Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria; reliable attendance; other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Education.
- Iowa Teaching Certification with endorsement in content area required; science endorsement.
- Endorsements: K-8 Science or 5-12 Science.
- Ability to teach middle school science.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Experience in classroom teaching in middle school preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret and implement ideas contained in technical documents and data.
