Satellite Production Senior Technician , Power & Electronics

ICEYE
Espoo Posted Nov 6, 2026
Full-timeHybrid

About this role

Role highlights:

  • Senior Production Technician (Power & Electronics)

  • Location: Espoo, Finland

  • Department: Production Finland

  • Reports to: Power & Electronics Team Lead

  • Employment type: Permanent, full time

  • Workplace model: Onsite

  • Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required)

Why this role matters:

As a Senior Production Technician, you’ll build the electronics inside every ICEYE satellite.

Our Power & Electronics team in Espoo builds and tests the avionics, RF units and batteries for every ICEYE satellite. We are moving from low-volume builds to standard, repeatable production.

We need a senior technician who builds flight hardware to standard without supervision, keeps the work area ready, solves build and test problems together with engineers, and helps other technicians grow. You will work daily with Assembly, Integration and Test Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and the satellite integration line.

Who We Are

ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.

ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.

ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.

Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

  • Build and test avionics, RF and battery units to flight standard, following controlled work instructions and lithium-ion handling rules.

  • Run bench tests: power-up, continuity and isolation checks, functional tests with unit test setups, and RF measurements where needed.

  • Be the first point of contact for build and test problems: lead fault-finding with engineering and Quality, and close non-conformances through root cause and corrective action.

  • Keep your production area ready and every build traceable: tools, fixtures, test equipment and kits, plus work orders, Jira tickets, as-built records, labels and photos.

  • Coach and cross-train technicians in soldering, connectors and coax, ESD and FOD rules, and test execution.

  • Improve how we build: redline work instructions, non-conformance reports and checklists, remove bottlenecks and repeat defects using Lean and 6S, and support new unit variants and new product introduction from first-article build to lessons learned.

What we’re looking for

Must haves:

  • 5+ years of hands-on electronics or electro-mechanical assembly, integration and test in a quality-critical environment such as space, aerospace, defence, medical devices, telecom or automotive electronics.

  • Soldering and rework to IPC Class 3 (IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001) or ECSS standard, certified or able to certify during probation, plus experience with connectors, coax assemblies and harness termination.

  • Confident use of bench test equipment (multimeter, power supplies, electronic load, oscilloscope), and able to work from schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings and test procedures.

  • Strong ESD, FOD and cleanroom discipline.

  • A track record of owning a work area or technical problem and seeing it through.

  • Experience coaching technicians, with clear and practical communication.

  • Working knowledge of Lean and 6S.

  • Proficient English. Onsite in Espoo, with occasional travel to other ICEYE sites in Europe.

Nice to haves:

  • Satellite or spacecraft hardware build or test experience, for example avionics such as on-board computers, power units, reaction wheels, star trackers or IMUs.

  • RF experience: network or spectrum analyzer measurements, RF cable assembly, X-band equipment.

  • Lithium-ion battery pack assembly and test, or environmental testing (thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, vibration).

  • Scripted or automated test tools (Python, LabVIEW) and Linux basics.
