Sanitation Supervisor
Overview
Directs and manages the overall housekeeping and sanitation of food contact areas and manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance to required standards for cleanliness at the Allen and Quality Bakery plants. Assures quality and safety while achieving established goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates shift activities through planning and communication with employees to ensure all sanitation objectives are accomplished.
- Supports the execution and helps control plans and budgets for the sanitation area.
- Develops and implements a master sanitation schedule/program for all processing and packaging equipment and storage vessels in accordance with company and FDA standards; maintains record keeping to document cleaning processes.
- Monitors CIP equipment to ensure proper operation by shift personnel.
- Oversees the storage and use of cleaning chemicals within the warehouse to prevent unauthorized access or use.
- Controls and minimizes overtime labor and maintenance costs.
- Monitors the usage of all cleaning/sanitizing chemicals and agents to ensure compliance to safety requirements.
- Maintains close working relationship with QA and responds to deviations from standards immediately.
- Ensures compliance to all federal, state and local laws and company policies.
- Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to subordinates.
- Maintains good employee, corporate and community relations.
- Coordinates with department managers and shift supervisors to ensure a trouble-free shift start-up/shut-down.
- Maintains company standards for cleanliness, housekeeping and safety in the plant area.
- Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
- Serve as a Qualified Individual as part of the plant’s Food Safety Plan, including monitoring and verification activities related to process control and preventive control measures.
- Responsible for preventive control measures including chemical concentrations for proper Sanitation controls.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Directly supervises a sanitation lead and all employees in sanitation activities throughout the Allen and Quality Bakery plants. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and results of the sanitation program. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, appraising and terminating employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.
Qualifications

3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.

Associates degree in business or equivalent experience/training in CIP systems and chemical usage.

Working knowledge of sanitation equipment, methods and chemicals.

BS/BA degree in business or industrial management or related field preferred.

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to move 75 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more at various frequencies and or intervals. Must be able to stand for an 8 – 10 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment, and handling of hazardous sanitation chemicals. The noise level is loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
