About this role
Salesforce Managed Services Consultant
Salesforce Managed Services Consultants are the technical backbone of Vera’s Managed Services engagements, the long-term relationships that keep our clients’ systems healthy and evolving as the technology landscape and organizational needs change over time. They are responsible for day-to-day delivery and client communication, working alongside Delivery Managers who own the commercial health and client satisfaction for each engagement.
Salesforce Managed Services Consultants take full ownership of engagements. This role is for someone who has moved beyond executing well-defined tasks to owning delivery end to end. That means leading requirements gathering, managing the backlog, anticipating obstacles before they arise, and giving clients confidence that their system is in good hands. We’re looking for someone technically strong, consistent in their high standards, comfortable balancing competing priorities across several engagements, and genuinely invested in the mission of the organizations we serve.
Primary Responsibilities: Own day-to-day delivery: Take full ownership of delivery on engagements. Produce consistently high-quality work and serve as the client’s trusted point of contact. Anticipate obstacles before they come up, and keep work moving toward the client’s goals. Build and sustain client relationships: Keep client stakeholders informed of progress and issues without needing to be prompted. Consult them early and often, show that their perspectives are valued, and deliver difficult messages professionally and clearly. Document stakeholder decisions and actions so the wider team stays informed. Manage backlog, monthly planning and scope: Own the backlog and keep it current, prioritized and reflective of client needs. Define clear, realistic monthly plans within available hours, and manage overlapping deadlines across multiple engagements. Help clients understand what’s in and out of scope, and address out-of-scope requests before they become surprises. Lead requirements gathering: Independently lead requirements gathering for a defined scope or feature set, acting as the liaison between the client and the Vera team. Produce detailed documentation, including user stories, process flows and acceptance criteria. Proactively flag gaps or inconsistencies in requirements. Apply strong technical judgment: Independently design and deliver Salesforce solutions, and lead deployments for multi-component work. Identify technical debt in client orgs and recommend practical remediation. Stay current with Salesforce developments and apply new features where they improve quality or reduce complexity. On higher-complexity or novel work, partner with an architect, bringing well-considered options and a recommended path forward. Identify, mitigate and escalate risk: Independently identify and mitigate delivery risks such as scope creep, data migration issues and org configuration conflicts, and adjust plans to keep delivery on track. Record risks clearly in the risk/issue log and communicate their status with enough context for others to act. When escalating, bring a clear problem statement and recommended options. Work within commercial boundaries: Understand the structure of your engagement’s contract well enough to work reliably within it. Track your time accurately and flag potential scope creep to your Delivery Manager as soon as you see it. Before responding to client requests with commercial or contractual implications, seek guidance. Contribute to growth and learning: Take ownership of your development by identifying gaps proactively, seeking stretch opportunities, and staying current with platform and industry developments. Share what you’re learning with the wider team without being asked.
