Job title: Sales Tax Specialist - Indirect Tax

About the Role IGT is seeking a tax professional to join its global tax function as an expert on all sales tax preparation. The role protects the company from compliance risks, optimizes tax processes, and ensures smooth customer transactions. Working cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Accounting, the role drives timeliness, accuracy, efficiency, and insights across the sales tax lifecycle. The person will interpret new sales tax rules, identify risks and opportunities, and help drive returns to completion.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the preparation, review, and timely filing of multi-state sales and use tax returns.
  • Reconcile sales tax accounts monthly for accuracy and completeness.
  • Research and interpret state/local tax laws to ensure compliance and identify potential savings opportunities.
  • Maintain exemption certificate records and respond to customer and auditor requests.
  • Partner with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Operations to ensure tax is applied correctly on invoices and purchases.
  • Support sales tax audits by gathering documentation and preparing responses.
  • Continuously improve processes by leveraging tax automation tools.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. An advanced degree in Taxation and a CPA license is ideal.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in accounting or sales tax.
  • Advanced Excel data analysis skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, macros, data visualization, and Power Query.
  • Systems knowledge including SAP or similar ERP systems; familiarity with Vertex; Avalara is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with professionals from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong time management and organization skills to meet US GAAP reporting deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to contribute as part of a dynamic leadership team to collaboratively solve problems innovatively.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Avalara and Vertex is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated starting compensation range: $88,000 – $112,000 USD (annual).
  • Benefits may include 401(k) with company contributions, medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and other wellness programs, subject to eligibility requirements.
