Sales Development Representative

Job Description

As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), you will support Thomson Reuters' growth strategy in Mexico by identifying, engaging, and developing new business opportunities within an assigned territory.

You will use effective virtual selling channels to prospect potential customers, understand their business needs, build a qualified sales pipeline, and close assigned commercial opportunities. You will also identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities and collaborate with the appropriate internal resources to advance them.

This role is ideal for a motivated, resilient, and customer-focused sales professional who thrives in a performance-driven environment and is energized by achieving ambitious activity, pipeline, and revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • In this opportunity as a Sales Development Representative, you will:

  • Prospect for New Sales Opportunities: Identify, research, and engage prospective customers within an assigned territory to generate qualified new business opportunities.

  • Build and Manage a Sales Pipeline: Develop and maintain a consistent pipeline of opportunities through outbound prospecting, lead follow-up, and targeted customer engagement.

  • Close Commercial Opportunities: Manage assigned sales opportunities through the sales cycle and close business when appropriate. Renewal contracts may be managed by other sales resources.

  • Identify Upsell and Cross-Sell Opportunities: Recognize expansion opportunities within customer conversations and route them to the appropriate Account Executive, Account Manager, or internal stakeholder.

  • Achieve Sales Targets: Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets while maintaining consistent performance against year-to-date goals.

  • Meet Activity Metrics: Achieve or exceed daily outreach, contact, and engagement targets through phone, email, video, and other virtual sales channels.

  • Engage Customers Through Virtual Sales Channels: Use the most effective digital and virtual channels to connect with prospects, validate business needs, and communicate the value of relevant Thomson Reuters solutions.

  • Handle Objections and Advance Opportunities: Confidently address customer questions and objections, identify barriers to purchase, and move opportunities forward in the sales process.

  • Maintain Accurate Salesforce Records: Log customer interactions, sales activities, opportunity details, and follow-up actions accurately and in a timely manner within Salesforce.

  • Collaborate With Internal Stakeholders: Work closely with managers, peers, Account Executives, and other internal teams to share insights, coordinate opportunity handoffs, and support overall sales growth.

  • Participate in Coaching and Development: Actively engage in coaching, feedback, and professional-development activities to strengthen sales skills, business acumen, and product knowledge.

  • Maintain Strong Performance Under Pressure: Effectively manage priorities, deadlines, activity expectations, and changing business requirements in a fast-paced sales environment.

  • Required Qualifications

  • You are an ideal fit for the Sales Development Representative role if your experience includes:

  • Experience in B2B prospecting, sales, lead generation, business development, or a comparable customer-facing commercial environment.

  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience; experience in software, SaaS, subscription-based services, or technology sales is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and influence customers through phone, email, video, and other virtual selling channels.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a professional, personable, and customer-focused approach.

  • Ability to prospect, qualify leads, build pipeline, and identify new sales opportunities within an assigned territory.

  • Ability to confidently handle objections, overcome barriers, and advance customer conversations toward commercial outcomes.

  • Experience using CRM platforms and sales tools, particularly Salesforce or comparable systems.

  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency navigating standard business software, including Microsoft Office applications and CRM tools.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Motivated, self-driven, solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.

  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and develop business acumen, sales capabilities, and product knowledge.

  • Demonstrated resilience, persistence, patience, and determination when facing rejection, ambiguity, or challenging sales situations.

  • Ability to maintain stable and consistent performance under pressure, including time-sensitive and high-volume work environments.

  • Availability to work a schedule aligned with customers' business hours.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience in an SDR, Business Development Representative, inside sales, lead generation, or sales development role.

  • Experience selling software, SaaS, technology, content, data, or subscription-based solutions.

  • Experience prospecting and developing new business opportunities within the Mexican market or other Latin American markets.

  • Experience meeting or exceeding sales, activity, pipeline-generation, or revenue targets in a performance-driven environment.

  • Experience using virtual or digital-first sales motions, including outbound calling, email outreach, video meetings, and social selling.

  • Knowledge of consultative selling methodologies, needs-assessment techniques, and opportunity qualification processes.

  • Experience working with Salesforce and other sales-engagement, prospecting, or customer-intelligence tools.

  • Experience collaborating with geographically distributed sales teams and supporting opportunity handoffs across internal stakeholders.
