Job title: Sales Associate

About the Role The Sales Associate contributes to the daily operations of a Discovery Shop resale store, driving revenue and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This role reports to the Store Manager, supports volunteers, and works approximately 20–25 hours per week with weekend availability.

What You'll Do

• Provide support for daily store operations including cleaning, processing merchandise, setting up displays, restocking, assisting at the register, and maintaining organized sales floors and fitting rooms.
• In the absence of management, oversee store operations and serve as a role model for staff and volunteers.
• Process donations from donors: receive, unload, and issue receipts in accordance with procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service: greet customers, assist with floor navigation, manage POS transactions, and offer carry-out support when needed.
• Support strategic initiatives such as the Discovery Rewards program, promotional events, and budgeting guidelines to achieve revenue and net income goals.
• Assist the store manager with social media content and marketing campaigns.
• Communicate the mission and direct services of the American Cancer Society to customers and donors.

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent; some college is a plus (business, math, economics).
• At least 2 years of retail/service experience; some leadership experience (e.g., key holder, lead) is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license is a plus (not required).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn POS and reporting tools.

Nice to Have

• Some college coursework in business, mathematics, and economics.
• Leadership experience (key holder, lead, or above).
• Valid driver’s license is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour. Part-time schedule of approximately 20–25 hours per week with weekend availability. The role is eligible for benefits.
