Job title: Sales Associate
About the Role The Sales Associate at the Discovery Shop supports daily operations of a nonprofit retail resale store, helping drive revenue and delivering an exceptional customer experience. Reporting to the Manager, Discovery Shop, the role also involves assisting donors, guiding volunteers, and upholding the mission of the American Cancer Society.
What You'll Do
- Provide support for daily store operations including merchandising, setting up displays, restocking, assisting at the register, and maintaining organized sales floors and fitting rooms.
- In the absence of management, assume store oversight.
- Process donations: receiving, unloading, stamping receipts, and recording donations per procedures.
- Deliver customer service: greetings, guiding floor navigation, facilitating sales, ensuring POS accuracy, and assisting with carry-out.
- Support strategic initiatives: Discovery Rewards program, promotional events, and budgeting guidelines to meet revenue goals.
- Support the store manager in creating social media content and marketing campaigns.
- Communicate the mission and direct services of the American Cancer Society to customers and donors.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or equivalent; some college in business, mathematics, or economics is a plus.
- At least 2 years of retail/service experience; some leadership experience (e.g., key holder, lead) is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license is a plus (not required).
- Vaccine requirements may apply as required by government agencies for those working with the public.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication and customer service; ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment; Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn and use retail POS and reporting tools.
Nice to Have
- Leadership experience (key holder, lead) is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license is a plus.
- Some college coursework in business, mathematics, and economics is a plus.
