  • Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a commercially minded, proactive, and results-driven Sales and Marketing Manager to grow revenue across its retail, wholesale, and distribution channels.
  • The successful candidate will identify new business opportunities, build and maintain strong customer relationships, expand market reach, and turn sales plans into measurable results.
  • The role requires excellent communication in both English and Yoruba, with the confidence to engage professionally with corporate customers and negotiate effectively with market traders, retailers, wholesalers, and other customers in the language most appropriate to the interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute practical sales and marketing plans to achieve revenue, customer acquisition, and market-expansion targets.
  • Proactively identify, approach, and convert new customers, including wholesalers, retailers, supermarkets, market traders, and distribution partners.
  • Conduct regular field visits and market outreach to promote the company’s products, understand customer needs, assess competitor activity, and identify sales opportunities.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with existing customers, follow up on leads, and encourage repeat business.
  • Communicate confidently and fluently in English and Yoruba, adapting communication to suit different customers, business settings, and market environments.
  • Negotiate prices, orders, and commercial terms within approved company guidelines while protecting margins and customer relationships.
  • Monitor sales performance, customer feedback, market trends, and competitor activity; recommend actions to improve results.
  • Prepare regular sales reports covering leads, visits, orders, revenue, outstanding follow-ups, challenges, and planned actions.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, inventory, operations, and management teams to support product availability, accurate order fulfilment, and timely delivery.
  • Take ownership of sales opportunities and agreed targets, following tasks through to completion rather than waiting for repeated instructions.
  • Represent Contemporary Gifts professionally in customer meetings, market visits, product presentations, and business-development activities.
  • Support promotional campaigns and other marketing activities that strengthen product visibility and generate sales.
  • Escalate customer complaints, supply issues, pricing concerns, and other risks promptly, while proposing practical solutions.
  • Carry out other related responsibilities assigned by management.

Performance Expectations

  • Performance will be assessed against agreed sales targets and revenue growth, new customers acquired, repeat business, quality and consistency of field engagement, conversion of leads into orders, customer retention, accuracy of sales reports, and timely follow-through on commitments.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Strong spoken and written English and fluent Yoruba are mandatory requirements. The candidate must be able to communicate naturally and confidently in both languages in professional and informal commercial settings.
  • A minimum of an OND or HND; a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Sales, or a related discipline is an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience in sales, marketing, business development, or account management, preferably in FMCG, groceries, retail, wholesale, or distribution.
  • Evidence of meeting sales targets, winning new customers, negotiating orders, and growing existing accounts.
  • Confidence engaging customers face-to-face and conducting regular field and market visits.
  • Strong negotiation, persuasion, relationship-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, commercially aware approach, with the initiative to identify opportunities and act on them.
  • Good numeracy and basic reporting skills, including the ability to track sales activity and performance using spreadsheets or sales tools.
  • High integrity, accountability, resilience, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams.
  • Willingness to travel locally for customer visits and business development as required. This is a full time on-site role.
