About the Role Airbnb is seeking a Safety Specialist for Korea to address critical safety concerns affecting our community. The role focuses on identifying threatening situations, providing empathetic, confidential support, and coordinating timely responses to protect survivors and restore safety. This is a one-year full-time position. What You'll Do
- Assess and respond to safety reports across categories including discrimination, personal safety threats, domestic violence, suicide or self-harm, child exploitation, physical/sexual assault, drugs, sex work, and human trafficking.
- Provide empathetic, confidential support to survivors and use sound judgment and quick decision-making to determine appropriate safety actions and referrals.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate responses, document cases, and ensure adherence to policy and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate case records, protect survivor privacy, and follow data handling and privacy standards.
- Stay informed about local laws, safety protocols, and best practices for Korea, and apply them to day-to-day operations.
- Escalate urgent cases promptly to appropriate channels and work to remove immediate threats to community safety. What We're Looking For
- Experience in safety, crisis response, survivor support, or related fields; ability to assess risk, de-escalate, and make rapid, well-reasoned judgments.
- Strong empathetic communication skills and the ability to work with survivors in high-stress situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams, with a track record of handling sensitive information responsibly.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, privacy considerations, and compliance with relevant regulations; willingness to work in Korea.
