Safety Coordinator

About the Role Kiewit Nuclear Solutions seeks a Safety Coordinator to promote and uphold a safety-first culture on our active project sites. This role focuses on implementing and auditing environmental health and safety programs to protect workers and the public, aligning with our 'Nobody Gets Hurt' guiding principle. What You'll Do

• Lead implementation and active participation in project-level safety programs
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data on illnesses and accidents; recommend preventative measures
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify risks and ensure regulatory compliance
• Monitor site personnel for unsafe actions; provide coaching and corrective feedback
• Create and maintain EH&S training materials tailored to project needs
• Administer safety training databases and report training activity
• Interpret and communicate safety regulations clearly to all team members
• Organize and deliver training programs (new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection)
• Serve as liaison for OSHA or provincial/federal safety officials during inspections or audits What We're Looking For
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field preferred; substantial relevant experience considered
• Proven track record in managing safety programs on complex construction or industrial projects with strong leadership
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition techniques; proficient in record keeping and injury management
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel for documentation and reporting
• Highly developed organizational, time-management, and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to engage with diverse teams
• Independent worker who can also collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to access all areas of a construction site; physical capability to work in varying conditions
• Willingness to relocate and remain flexible to meet project demands Nice to Have
• Nuclear sector experience or familiarity with nuclear safety requirements Compensation & Benefits
• Base compensation: $85,000/yr - $110,000/yr
