A Snapshot of Your Day
As the ROCC Hub Manager within Siemens Energy’s Grid Access Operation & Maintenance division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our Remote Operations Control Center. You will lead a dedicated team responsible for the 24/7 monitoring and control of critical grid infrastructure, ensuring maximum availability and safety. Your day-to-day activities will involve overseeing real-time operations, managing incident response protocols, and fostering a high-performance culture within your team. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to align operational activities with strategic uptime and safety targets, making a significant impact on the reliability of the UK’s energy grid.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Oversee 24/7 real-time monitoring and control of grid access assets, ensuring maximum availability and prompt response to alarms.
- Lead emergency response protocols and incident management workflows during grid disturbances or equipment failures.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team of control room operators and engineers, ensuring appropriate shift coverage and competency levels.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in Remote Operations Control Center (ROCC) processes, tools, and SCADA/EMS systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure strict compliance with UK Health & Safety regulations, High Voltage Safety Rules, and environmental standards within the control room.
- Oversee the implementation of cybersecurity protocols and data integrity measures for remote control systems.
- Drive the growth strategy for the ROCC by collaborating with the Grid Technologies, sales, and business development teams to tailor Operations and Maintenance (O&M) offerings to customer needs.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with current and prospective customers, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including cybersecurity standards and NIS/NIS2 compliance.
- Host visits and tours for potential customers and stakeholders at the ROCC, effectively showcasing the centre’s services and capabilities.
- Create a cohesive and standardized method for onboarding new projects and managing ongoing operations across various customer assets and technologies to enhance efficiency and promote best practices.
- Collaborate with the senior operations engineer and head of Grid Access to manage the broader operations team, ensuring all necessary procedures are established and the team is adequately trained to operate assets effectively.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent vocational experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a power system control room or utility operations environment.
- Proven experience leading or supervising teams in a 24/7 shift-based operational setting.
- Strong knowledge of SCADA and Energy Management Systems (EMS) and high voltage grid operations.
- Familiarity with UK Grid Codes and safety regulations, including WTSR and Safety Rules.
- Certifications such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
