About this role
About the Role The Robotics Mechanical Engineer will lead the mechanical design of robotic systems for CNH Industrial's robotics initiatives, focusing on robotic arms, end effectors, grippers, and related machinery. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements, document designs, and ensure timely delivery; travel may be required for field evaluation. What You'll Do
- Design robotic manipulators, end effectors, and automation equipment using 3D CAD
- Own the mechanical architecture of a robotic arm, including joints, linkages, and structural components
- Develop and use MATLAB models to evaluate kinematics, dynamics, and actuator requirements
- Select and integrate actuators, transmissions, and sensors into mechanical designs
- Build prototypes and develop test fixtures to evaluate performance, lifecycle, and reliability
- Perform or facilitate installation/testing related to the product, system, or process
- Design for durability and operation in outdoor, agricultural environments
- Collaborate closely with controls, electronics, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration
- Guide interns from university What We're Looking For
- Experience designing robotic mechanical systems and building automation hardware
- Proficiency with 3D CAD for complex mechanisms
- Experience developing MATLAB models for kinematics and dynamics
- Ability to select/integrate actuators, transmissions, and sensors into mechanical designs
- Experience building prototypes and test fixtures, and performing or facilitating testing
- Ability to design for durability in outdoor agricultural environments
- Strong collaboration with controls, electronics, and software teams
- Willingness to travel to gain product/functional experience and field evaluation
