About the Role The Registered Nurse (RN) 2 provides nursing care to a specific patient population within the Skilled and Restorative Care Unit, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care across simple to complex multi-system needs in a safe, therapeutic environment. The RN applies knowledge of growth and development across the life span, engages in caring relationships with patients, families and significant others, works collaboratively with the health care team, and uses sound judgment while performing nursing and medical interventions. This role adheres to specialty standards and organizational policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols. It reports to the Director and/or Nurse Manager and may supervise Licensed Nursing Assistants and unlicensed personnel.

What You'll Do

  • Bases nursing actions by applying purposeful, organized thinking to make clinical judgments/decisions.
  • Gather data through history taking and physical assessment and interpret data to plan and implement interventions to meet patient care needs.
  • Develops, evaluates and revises patient’s plan of care and nursing actions in response to patient’s needs.
  • Documents care provided and patient’s progress toward attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Directs and supervises others in the performance of delegated nursing activities.
  • Teaches the patient and/or significant other(s) about the plan of care.
  • Prepares patients to manage their care after discharge, transfer or preparation for procedure/test.
  • Manages time and resources to deliver patient care.
  • Administers medications to patients.
  • Provides direct patient care.
  • Leads the health care team.
  • Serves as a Resource Person for assigned shift.
  • Serves as a preceptor for new employees.
  • Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Certification: Registered Nurse – New Hampshire Board of Nursing; Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.
  • Experience: One year of clinical nursing experience; proven ability to work effectively with patients, care providers and the multi-disciplinary team; ability to function well as part of a team.

Nice to Have

  • Supervisory experience with Licensed Nursing Assistants and unlicensed personnel.
