About the Role This position is a Registered Nurse (RN) who assumes a visible leadership role and is responsible for overseeing patient care and administrative activities in their respective units and care delivery. The SUS oversees day-to-day unit operations, continually evaluating quality, clinical judgment, productivity, staffing, and education to support safe, high-quality care. - Assume a visible leadership role and oversee patient care and administrative activities in the assigned unit and care delivery.
- Oversee day-to-day unit operations; monitor staffing, productivity, and budget standards; promote safe staffing and compliance with policies.
- Conduct annual performance appraisals and provide regular feedback; participate in hiring decisions and corrective actions in partnership with leadership.
- Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care, clinical judgment, interpersonal and communication skills; develop staffing plans based on patient acuity and skill mix.
- Develop, revise, and ensure compliance with policies, standards of care, and professional practice acts relevant to the assigned area; serve as a clinical and administrative resource.
- Provide coaching and development opportunities; advocate for professional nursing practice and collaborate with unit-based councils.
- Coordinate patient assignments with acuity and staff competencies; work with unit leader and staffing office to meet staffing needs; document unusual events and ensure timely feedback.
- Maintain regular attendance and operate within the scope of practice for Registered Nurses as defined by state regulations and professional organizations.
- This role involves night shifts (12-hour shifts); schedules may vary to meet organizational needs. What We're Looking For
- Current Montana RN License or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice in Montana; required.
- BSN degree preferred.
- Current Healthcare Provider CPR.
- Minimum of one (1) year of current unit-specific experience; experience in a higher-acuity unit is preferred.
- Previous Charge Nurse or Supervisor experience preferred.
- National certification in the unit is preferred.
- SANE Coordinator portion: previous SANE coordinator experience preferred; SANE-A and SANE-P certifications required for SANE Coordinator portion; unit-specific national certification preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and ability to prioritize; able to work as part of a team and independently. Nice to Have
- SANE-A and SANE-P certifications (required for the SANE Coordinator portion).
