Job title: RN Residency - Mental Health
About the Role The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care utilizing the standards of care and the standards of professional performance outlined by the American Nurses Association and the Ohio Board of Nursing. The RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to promote the optimal health potential of the patient and family, delivering competent nursing care based on a documented assessment of the patient/family needs and the hospital mission. The RN promotes a patient and family experience-oriented environment and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers—both internal and external. The mental health inpatient unit stabilizes a child in crisis in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment then connects them to ongoing outpatient therapy.
What You'll Do
- Provide professional nursing care to patients in the mental health inpatient unit in accordance with the standards of care and professional performance outlined by the ANA and the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Interact with an interdisciplinary team to promote the health potential of the patient and family, delivering competent nursing care based on a documented assessment of patient/family needs and hospital mission.
- Promote a patient- and family-experience oriented environment and act as a change agent to meet census and care needs of all customers, both internal and external.
- Support stabilization of children in crisis on the unit and connect them to ongoing outpatient therapy, incorporating traditional talk therapy, art, music and movement therapy as appropriate.
- Demonstrate commitment to professional development, including pursuing a BSN within 5 years of hire and graduating from an accredited nursing program with an Ohio RN license.
- Participate in the department's two-step selection process, including a video interview via Spark Hire and a potential in-person interview if progressed.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Certification/License: RN license in the State of Ohio; CPR certification (American Heart Association).
- Commitment to obtain a BSN within 5 years of hire.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and eligibility to practice in Ohio.
- Ability to work within a pediatric mental health inpatient setting and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
- This full-time role is based at Dayton Children's - Main Campus (onsite).
Nice to Have
- Experience in pediatric mental health settings or inpatient units (not required).
