About the Role The Registered Nurse (RN) 2 supports assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for a population-specific patient group in the Medical Specialties Unit, handling simple to complex multi-system issues in a safe, therapeutic environment. The RN applies growth and development knowledge across the lifespan, interprets data to identify patient needs, and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team. The role adheres to specialty and organizational standards and may supervise licensed nursing assistants and unlicensed personnel.

What You'll Do

  • Bases nursing actions on purposeful, organized thinking to make clinical judgments and decisions.
  • Gathers data through history and physical assessment, interprets information to plan and implement interventions.
  • Develops, evaluates and revises the patient's plan of care and nursing actions in response to patient needs.
  • Documents care provided and patient progress toward outcomes.
  • Directs and supervises others in delegated nursing activities.
  • Teaches patients and/or significant others about the plan of care.
  • Prepares patients to manage their care after discharge, transfer, or procedure/test.
  • Manages time and resources to deliver patient care.
  • Administers medications to patients.
  • Provides direct patient care.
  • Leads the health care team.
  • Serves as a Resource Person for the assigned shift.
  • Serves as a preceptor for new employees.
  • Performs job-specific requirements and other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Registered Nurse - New Hampshire Board of Nursing; Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • One year of prior clinical nursing experience; ability to work effectively with patients, care providers, and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of teamwork and the ability to function as a team member.

Nice to Have

  • BSN degree (preferred).
