About the Role The RN at Logan Health's Cut Bank Critical Access Hospital & ED provides professional nursing care for pediatric through geriatric patients. This PRN (as-needed) role involves assessments, developing and evaluating care plans, and coordinating care with the broader health care team. The position supports flexible staffing to meet patient needs in a rural emergency department and critical access setting.
What You'll Do
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments on admission and throughout the clinical course in accordance with hospital policies and unit standards; continually reassess patient status, identify problems, implement interventions, and evaluate responses.
- Obtain appropriate authorizations and consents for treatments; maintain patient confidentiality and dignity.
- Administer medications, venipuncture, injections, IV therapies, and other nursing procedures as ordered; monitor patient status and document; communicate unusual changes to the provider.
- Document patient assessments and treatments in the computerized documentation system in a timely and compliant manner.
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the health care team about treatment course, educational resources, or other medical information.
- Administer additional nursing responsibilities (injections, blood pressure checks, inhalation therapy, catheterization, dressing changes) within scope and as ordered; inform provider of status changes.
- Maintain infection control and safety, dispose of biohazard materials per policy; ensure environmental cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
- Maintain appropriate supply levels, order and stock supplies for areas of patient care.
- Participate in continuing education and training; stay current on nursing practices and participate in orientation and precepting; may be oriented to OR/OB Circulator duties as assigned.
- Comply with Federal and State regulations relevant to the position.
- Shift: Variable 12-hour shifts; Schedule: 8- to 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.
- PRN roles offer scheduling flexibility and are designed to support the team during busy periods and staff absences.
What We're Looking For
- Graduate of an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.
- Current Montana RN licensure; MT licensure in the NLC or MT RN licensure eligible.
- Current BLS required; NRP and ACLS within 12 months of hire; PALS within 24 months; TNCC and/or ENCP and STABLE within 30 months.
- One or more years of acute or critical care experience preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with nurses, physicians, and administration.
Nice to Have
- Chest tube competence; Monitor/Defibrillator competence; Hemodynamic education; Central line education; Wound Vac education.
- Precepts/assists with orientation of new personnel; willingness to participate in OR/OB Circulator duties as assigned.
