About the Role The RN Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist (CNPS) is an expert clinician with advanced education and training who applies expert knowledge, advanced assessment, and evidence-based practice to adult critical care. The CNPS educates, consults, and serves as a clinical expert across the system, partnering with nursing staff to drive quality, safety, and patient-focused outcomes.
What You'll Do

Provide clinical nursing expertise in the area of critical care and maintain advanced nursing skills.

Assess and identify education needs for role development through observation and feedback.

Provide staff support and guidance in planning and modifying patient care.

Identify professional practice needs by collecting/analyzing data to evaluate issues, trends, and outcomes.

Enhance process improvement by identifying opportunities, leading quality initiatives, and implementing change.

Serve as a source of evidence-based, cost-effective, safe clinical nursing practices and regulatory standards.

Evaluate new evidence and research for potential application to clinical practice.

Identify standards of practice using evidence-based information to achieve outcomes for nurse-sensitive indicators.

Evaluate outcomes of nursing practice changes.

Lead the integration, management, and evaluation of technology/products to promote safety, quality, efficiency, and optimal health outcomes.

Partner in the development of evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols; creating and implementing a plan to ensure sustainable change at the clinical unit level.

Actively participate in Shared Decision-Making Councils.

Education

Consult with Nursing Leadership, Clinical Nurse Educators, Department Based Educators and other system teams to establish annual competencies/skill days and other educational needs.

Partner with peers and colleagues on the creation and implementation of programs and presentations such as just-in-time education, presentations, and practical skills in clinical and/or simulation setting utilizing evidence-based practice and adult learning theory.

Develop and provide nursing education in a variety of venues and/or methods.

Respond to the learning needs of the community and employs educational strategies to promote, maintain, and improve health and prevent illness and injury.

Assess and recommend education needs for role development.

Shared responsibility for developing, implementing, and evaluating learning and development programs and teaching methodologies to improve organizational outcomes.

Participates in the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of the Transition to Practice programs for nurses at all levels.

Collaborates with academic nursing partners to support integration of nursing students into the practice environment.

Serves as an influential leader in interprofessional learning, professional growth, and practice change throughout the organization. Uses effective strategies for changing clinician behavior to encourage adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.

What We're Looking For
- Masters Degree in Nursing required.
- Doctorate in Nursing preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois required.
- 5+ years of clinical experience in a medical center, hospital environment, or academic setting required.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Current nursing specialty certification; if none, certification required within one year of assuming role.
- Experience with adult learning theory/educational practice.
Nice to Have
- Doctorate in Nursing preferred (advanced practice and leadership focus).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $43.69 - $67.72 per hour (USD).
- Travel: Yes, to other Endeavor Health sites as needed.
