About the Role Baker Tilly is seeking a Risk Advisory Services Principal to lead the risk advisory practice, provide leadership and directional guidance, and drive exceptional client service. This role offers ownership-style experience within a fast-growing national practice, with a focus on risk, governance, internal audit, compliance, IT and cybersecurity.
What You'll Do
- Provide leadership, management and strategic direction with a focus on exceptional client service, learning and growth for associates, and sound fiscal performance.
- Translate firm vision and strategy into an actionable business plan, set objectives and monitor progress.
- Team with marketing to develop sales and marketing plans; explore service expansions within existing clients and pursue new clients; actively participate in proposals.
- Coordinate firm resources to deliver top-quality products and services.
- Ensure team members receive meaningful training and development, face appropriate challenges, receive timely feedback, and are recognized for their efforts.
- Oversee practice profitability, including optimal utilization of personnel, appropriate rates, and timely fee collection.
- Work closely with client executives to understand their businesses and help identify and manage financial and operational risks within their systems to address technology risks.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of clients’ businesses and industries through direct client interaction while handling multiple engagement aspects.
- Think independently and strategically about clients’ business, systems and risks; propose process improvements based on insights.
- Provide strategic business advice to implement new processes and controls addressing key risks.
- Assess, manage and optimize risk across operational audit, ERM and SOX compliance.
- Review clients’ processes and controls against industry frameworks, identify gaps, and communicate issues and recommendations.
- Lead significant new business development, including identifying, sourcing, pursuing and winning risk advisory opportunities.
- Produce executive summaries and final reports, documenting work papers in line with internal audit methodologies.
- Act as a valued business advisor to clients.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated leadership experience in risk advisory or related field.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and develop new business.
- Deep knowledge of risk governance, internal audit, compliance, IT risk and cybersecurity.
- Experience with ERM and SOX compliance.
- Strong strategic thinker able to translate strategy into actionable plans and build and mentor teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present at the executive level and deliver compelling reports.
