Section: About the Role
The RF Engineer will plan, optimize, and maintain radio access network performance across technologies, supporting RF design, capacity planning, KPI monitoring, troubleshooting, new site rollouts, and network expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- • Perform RF planning, coverage and capacity analysis for new deployments and network expansions.
- • Develop RF designs, coverage predictions, antenna configurations, and frequency plans.
- • Monitor network KPIs and analyze drive test logs and OSS performance data.
- • Optimize coverage, quality, accessibility, retainability, and throughput.
- • Troubleshoot dropped/blocked calls, poor LTE throughput, coverage gaps, and interference.
- • Monitor network health, site availability, utilization, congestion, and spectrum usage.
- • Participate in Site Acceptance Testing and verify RF performance and antenna installation.
- • Develop RF expansion plans and support network modernization, Smart WiFi, and rural broadband initiatives.
- • Work with OEMs, review optimization reports, and verify parameter changes.
- • Maintain RF design databases, frequency plans, and technical reports.
Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field.
- • 3–7 years’ experience in RF planning and optimization.
- • Experience with GSM and LTE networks.
- • Rural network deployment experience is an advantage.
- • Knowledge of RF planning, optimization, link budgets, coverage prediction, frequency planning, drive test analysis, KPI analysis, interference analysis, OSS monitoring, spectrum management, antenna design, and propagation modelling.
- • Proficiency with tools such as Google Earth, Huawei M2000/U2020, Baicells OMC, VANU OSS, Excel, and Power BI.
- • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, technical reporting, communication, and planning skills.
