Nigeria’s pioneer one-stop natural hair company, Kinky Apothecary, is expanding rapidly!

We are looking for driven, ambitious self-starters to join our team as we continue in our mission to disrupt conformity and change the traditional narrative of beauty in the industry.

We initially launched 15 years ago as a purely retail platform (Nigeria’s first natural hair company, in fact!) and, in our quest to shatter Eurocentric beauty standards, we restructured and rebranded in 2020 to adopt a science- and data-driven approach to democratising the haircare industry.

We’re building the beauty brand of the future—a new standard in understanding, caring for and celebrating hair, rooted in African culture.

As we expand our new Lekki Salon + Retail Store, we are searching for LAGOS-BASED Retail Associates to join the team.

Location: Kinky Apothecary, Sea Mall – Left Wing 3, First Floor, Plot 13, Block 12, Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos

Work arrangement: Full-time and in person, five days per week, generally eight hours per day, with some Sunday shifts from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Net monthly salary: ₦220,000–₦250,000

We are looking for dedicated Retail Associates to support our Salon Managers in the Lekki store. Responsibilities entail assisting with the day-to-day operations of Kinky Apothecary and partner-brand concessions within our Lekki Salon and include:

• Assisting customers with product selection and providing informed product recommendations
• Driving retail sales, including cross-selling products alongside salon services
• Maintaining product displays, merchandising standards and the overall presentation of the retail area
• Monitoring inventory, conducting stock counts and flagging replenishment requirements
• Processing retail transactions accurately and maintaining appropriate sales and stock records

What We Are Looking For

At least one year of relevant experience

• Previous retail experience is preferred but not compulsory; candidates with relevant sales or customer-service experience from other industries may also be considered
• Previous beauty-retail experience and knowledge of natural hair or haircare products would be an advantage but are not compulsory
• A “people person”—someone who can get on with junior staff, senior management and customers alike
• A team player
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Honesty, reliability and punctuality
• A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• This is not a hairstyling position. Hands-on hairstyling or beauty-service experience is not required.
• Candidates must be comfortable standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting or moving product inventory. Regular breaks and a one-hour lunch break will be provided.
