• Azarai has been designing engagement and wedding rings in Nigeria since 2014. We work with moissanite, lab diamonds, natural diamonds and precious metals. Our customers are making one of the biggest purchases of their lives, and they need someone who knows the product to guide them.
• We are hiring a Retail Associate for our Abuja store at Capital Hub, Mabushi. You will run the store day to day — serving customers, closing sales, managing stock and keeping the space in the condition our customers expect.
• We don't care about degrees or qualifications. We care about work ethic, integrity and a willingness to learn.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Cultivate excellent product knowledge
• Guide customers to make purchases and close transactions
• Respond to customer enquiries and resolve complaints
• Maintain cleanliness and good decorative order in the store
• Manage stock levels and ensure availability of inventory
• Ensure the POS is working
• Ensure supply of all office consumables
• Ensure timely opening of the store
• Arrange store displays in an inviting fashion
• Accept repairs and ensure they are dispatched and returned promptly
• Enforce company policies
• Execute company promotions and offers

What We Expect

We are direct about this so nobody is surprised after they start.

• Complete training before you serve a customer. Training is rigorous. It is not a formality.
• Turn up on time, every time. You are responsible for the store opening on schedule.
• Excellent personal grooming, every shift. This is non-negotiable in a luxury environment.
• Know the product. You are expected to answer technical questions about stones and metals accurately and confidently.
• Own the store. Cleanliness, displays, stock accuracy, POS, consumables and repairs are yours to manage.
• Sell. This is a performance-based role. We expect you to be confident selling a high-value product to a well-educated, affluent customer base.
• Weekend and holiday availability. Saturdays are our busiest days. You may also be scheduled on Sundays and public holidays.
• Commit for at least a year. We invest heavily in training and want people who intend to stay.

Requirements

• You must live along the northern corridor into Mabushi. Our store is at Capital Hub, Mabushi, near Next Cash and Carry. Areas that work well include Gwarinpa, Life Camp, Kado, Karmo, Katampe, Mpape, Berger, Jabi, Utako, Wuse and Kubwa. If you live in Nyanya, Karu, Mararaba, Lugbe or Kuje, the cross-city journey is likely to make this role unsustainable — we would rather be upfront about that now than have you leave after three months.
• Excellent spoken and written English. You will be administered a diction test.
• Tech-savvy and comfortable using computers and software.
• Available Monday to Saturday on a rotating 18-shift roster, including Saturdays.
• Calm disposition and the ability to work under pressure.
• Due to the nature of our product and client base, female candidates are preferred.

Helpful, not essential:

• A major Nigerian language (Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba)
• Previous retail, customer service, hospitality or sales experience
• Comfort dealing with well-educated and affluent customers
• Personable, good at solving problems, able to multi-task
• No jewelry experience required. We train you. We would rather hire someone with the right temperament and teach them the product than hire someone who knows the product but cannot connect with a customer.
