About the Role Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Broken Arrow, located on the 3rd floor of Ascension St. John, is a long-term acute care (LTAC) hospital focused on care for patients recovering from post-intensive care and medically complex conditions. The Respiratory Therapist provides safe and competent respiratory care, monitors ventilation, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to support recovery and transitions to the next level of care.
What You'll Do
- Deliver competent Respiratory Care procedures across hospital areas per policies and physician orders; maintain documentation and charge capture.
- Monitor and manage mechanical ventilation, initiate and adjust therapy, and work with oxygen/air delivery devices.
- Perform airway management (including oral/nasal airways, bag/mask ventilation, intubation/assist) and suction as needed; provide tracheostomy and oral care; participate in CPR.
- Assist with bronchoscopy procedures, assess decannulation risk, and conduct spontaneous breathing trial assessments for weaning readiness.
- Participate in the early mobility program, monitor ABG sampling/analysis, and maintain ABG analyzer quality control.
- Provide patient and family teaching, hand off comprehensive reports to the healthcare team, and document care accurately.
- Support orientation and training of new employees/students and precept new staff during onboarding.
What We're Looking For
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of practice (or comparable certification) and ability to obtain licensure as required.
- BCLS and ACLS required; RRT credential preferred.
- Post-secondary respiratory therapy credential or associate degree required.
- 1+ years of related experience preferred.
- Must be fluent in English.
Nice to Have
- CRT or RRT credential upon hire (preferred).
