About the Role The Resident Manager will oversee all hotel operations for INNSIDE Manchester, reporting to the Director of Operations. Responsible for driving high service quality, managing budgets, and leading a diverse team to achieve the hotel's business plan and strategic objectives.
What You'll Do
- Assume responsibilities and decision-making for hotel operations.
- Design and implement projects, programs, budgets, and action plans; monitor implementation to meet goals.
- Analyze the Business Plan with the Director of Operations and review weekly results for financial projections and occupancy-based staffing.
- Ensure actions align with budget guidelines to increase income, control costs, and identify opportunities.
- Identify root causes of deviations and collaborate on budget development and tracking.
- Participate in forecast meetings and Business Reviews; drive cross-departmental teamwork.
- Develop managers and leaders; align leadership styles with company culture.
- Set departmental goals, monitor progress, and follow up on action plans.
- Manage union meetings if necessary; address union-related tasks.
- Promote training and professional development; lead daily briefings and meetings.
- Monitor quality standards and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and cleaning; maintain security measures for guests and staff.
- Investigate customer service complaints; inform the Director of Operations.
- Contribute to the Business Plan and business strategy; ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Resident Manager or similar role.
- Preferably in a city-style property; Manchester or surrounding market knowledge is an asset.
- International experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and team development skills; ability to motivate and develop teams.
- University diploma/degree, preferably in Tourism or Hospitality.
- Functional knowledge of all department operations; HR management and talent development.
- Proficient in IT tools used in hotel management.
- High geographical flexibility; able to reside in Manchester.
- English language: high level (verbal and written).
Nice to Have
- Manchester market knowledge and proximity.
- International work experience.
- Experience in union management or negotiations is a plus.
