Job title: Residence Life Specialist
About the Role Wabash College seeks a Residence Life Specialist to coordinate housing operations, supervise Residence Assistants (RAs), and support Greek Life. This role blends operational tasks with student engagement to foster a strong sense of belonging and student success within the College’s residential communities. It is a full-time, benefits-eligible position reporting to the Associate Dean of Students.
What You'll Do
- Manage housing operations and facilities coordination: coordinate room selection (room assignments, roommate selection, housing agreements), open/close processes for residence halls and fraternities, assess room condition, prepare work orders, and serve as liaison between Campus Services and students.
- Oversee keys management, summer housing operations, safety inspections with Campus Safety, and coordination with food service providers to meet College standards in fraternities.
- Coordinate prospective student visits/tours of residential facilities and conduct biweekly cleaning inspections of fraternity spaces.
- Lead Residence Life leadership and community development: promote a residential environment that supports learning, leadership development, and positive citizenship; supervise and mentor RAs; collaborate on programs to foster engagement, inclusion, and belonging.
- Address student conduct proactively while supporting growth within The Gentleman’s Rule; collaborate with Student Life, Campus Safety, faculty, and other partners to enhance the residential experience.
- Serve as a resource and liaison to Greek Life officers, members, and chapter advisors; support healthy fraternity living environments and campus culture.
- Additional responsibilities: provide evening and weekend presence as needed; participate in divisional and campus-wide initiatives; assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in residence life, student leadership development, housing operations, or related higher education areas.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing student leaders.
- Knowledge of student development, community-building practices, and strategies that foster belonging and engagement.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and campus partners.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to a student-centered, student-led approach rooted in the College's Gentleman's Rule and relationship development.
- Ability to proactively address student concerns, manage conflict, and support accountability and growth.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in related field.
- Additional experience in higher education settings and Greek Life.
- Demonstrated leadership in program development and community-building initiatives.
