Job title: Residence Director (Two Positions)

About the Role Residence Director is a full-time, 12-month, live-in professional responsible for managing a residential community housing 250 to 1000 students. The role involves operational, administrative, and programmatic initiatives within Residential Living, reporting to an Assistant Director and ensuring an engaging, inclusive on-campus living environment.

What You'll Do

  • Implement Residential Living curriculum to foster student learning, development, and engagement.
  • Supervise student leaders (Resident Advisors) and participate in staff training and evaluation processes.
  • Provide crisis intervention and on-call support; respond to emergencies and enforce Residential Living policies.
  • Resolve policy violations and provide appropriate referrals for students.
  • Develop, implement, and attend Living Learning Community programs; support assigned Living Learning Community staff.
  • Advise students informally regarding personal, social, and academic concerns; mediate conflicts (e.g., roommate agreements).
  • Promote inclusive, culturally competent residential communities and support an inclusive residence hall environment.
  • Manage supervision for 8-21 Resident Advisors and address performance concerns per departmental protocol.
  • Support on-campus community through collaboration with colleagues and campus partners; participate in departmental trainings and on-call rotations.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education, or a related field preferred. Evening and weekend commitments are expected. Residence in the on-campus apartment provided.
  • Experience: Previous residence hall or student advising experience; confirmed skills in mediation, crisis intervention, problem-solving, and decision-making. Potential to supervise paraprofessional staff; experience in at least two of: counseling, advisement, programming, student development, housing operations, residence hall safety and security, public relations, or summer programs.
  • Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of student development, counseling, and/or event management. Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong ability to handle multiple priorities and work across constituencies. Commitment to inclusive, culturally competent community across race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, ability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or national origin.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $62,400 per year (annual)
  • Status: Exempt, 12-month, live-in position; on-campus apartment provided.
