About the Role The Research Physical Therapist provides clinical support and data collection for study subjects, coordinating appointments and data capture for research projects. This is an on-site role based at the Desmond T Doss Health Clinic and Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii and requires a thorough government background check. What You'll Do
- Provide direct patient care by administering physical therapy treatment programs for the research study, including planning, coordination, control, direction and evaluation of PT activities.
- Plan and develop physical therapy treatments, procedures, and programs; observe patient responses and modify the program to accelerate recovery.
- Record all pertinent data in the patient's medical records; oversee data acquisition, biomechanical data reduction and analysis.
- Prepare and submit progress reports and data deliverables; author or co-author publishable documents.
- Develop and implement teaching programs and research activities related to physical therapy; conduct data collection and ensure regulatory documentation for IACUC/IRB compliance.
- Oversee subject recruitment and enrollment as needed; conduct research subject visits and collect data.
- Provide clinical support for subjects while being tested on the perturbation protocol in the CAREN virtual reality environment and on the Active-Step treadmill; recommend adjustments to braces, prostheses, or other mobility aids as needed.
- Maintain a collaborative research environment among the PI, site personnel, research participants, The Geneva Foundation and the funding organization; assist with data gathering, analysis, and preparation of publications and presentations.
- Maintain regulatory documentation for IACUC/IRB and ensure security and confidentiality of all research records; participate in hiring, training and supervision of other personnel as applicable.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and infection control procedures where applicable. What We're Looking For
- Masters or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program; current Physical Therapist license.
- 3-5 years of experience in physical therapy preferred, with some orthopedic background; 3-5 years nonprofit, research, or healthcare experience desired.
- Knowledge of Institutional Review Board practice and human subject regulations; familiarity with instrument motion analysis.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; organized, detail-oriented, professional demeanor; able to adapt to changing priorities and communicate diplomatically.
- Computer skills with at least intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel). Nice to Have
- Experience with CAREN virtual reality environment and Active-Step treadmill.
- Experience working in military or Military Health System research settings. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: USD 85,000 - 95,000 per year.
