About the Role Concentric Methods is seeking an experienced Research Nurse to independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through performance of support services.
What You'll Do
- Facilitate screening patients for adolescent studies focusing on major depressive disorder; respond to inquiries from parents and teens; explain study nature; guide preliminary screening via secure online methods or hardcopy responses; provide log-in passwords and verify questionnaire completion.
- Identify safety risks during assessment (eg, imminent suicidal ideation or behavior, ongoing substance abuse, psychosis, self-injury, child abuse, recent physical or sexual trauma).
- Conduct preliminary evaluations of potential probands via telephone interviewing of parents, medical record review, consultation with treating professionals, and NIH medical staff; determine onsite evaluation or referral as indicated.
- Conduct structured and semi-structured interviews with probands, and with parents and siblings; perform semi-structured interviews with parents to determine family medical and psychiatric history.
- Conduct screening/baseline evaluations in collaboration with staff.
- Administer and score a wide range of structured and semi-structured interviews (eg, SCID, K-SADS) to child and adolescent probands and their parents.
- Provide family support and crisis management services as needed; clinical support to patients and families during research participation; refer to NIH resources and community services when indicated.
- Participate in planning and execution of clinical research as clinical support staff and Protocol Coordinator; assist research assistants with scheduling, follow-up, and tracking of participants.
- Make recommendations for appropriate referrals (eg, Child Protective Services, psychotherapy, community services involvement, special education, activity programs).
- Document clinical contacts and findings; enter clinically relevant research information.
- Participate in research group meetings and contribute to decisions about patient inclusion, diagnoses, and patient/family management during participation.
- Locate, evaluate, and maintain contact with community organizations and facilities such as day treatment centers and clinics.
- Support MRI and MEG research procedures; evaluate subject eligibility for brain imaging; assess safety criteria for MRI/MEG participation; assist patients during imaging; monitor safety.
- Travel as needed to support program requirements (0-10%).
What We're Looking For
- Masters degree in Nursing with current state licensure.
- Minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
- CPR Certification.
- Experience in a clinical research setting with protocols and clinical trials; experience providing clinical services in a medical setting.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay of $55.00 for up to 40 hours per week.
