Research Associate / Postdoctoral Fellow - Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies
General duties: Conducts academic research in connection with CUNY programs; may assist faculty, staff, and students in conducting research and lead research efforts involving others. Develops research plans and proposals and participates in acquiring funding. Collects, analyzes, and assures validity of data. Writes progress reports; writes and publishes findings. Collaborates with internal and external colleagues. Adheres to standards for safety and hygiene and ethical conduct as defined by the University and relevant outside parties.

Campus specific information: The Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies (CLACLS) at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY) has an open position for a Research Associate (Postdoctoral Fellow) starting in fall 2026 and ending in August 2027 with a possibility of renewal for one year subject to availability of funding. The Center seeks applicants familiar with Latino Studies and interested in collaborating with the CLACLS daily activities, including research, fellowships, and events. The Research Associate (Postdoctoral Fellow) will be expected to attend and contribute to the CLACLS events and publications. Duties will also include active involvement with other Center initiatives, such as organizing conferences and symposia, and liaising with community organizations and scholars. The incumbent will report to the Associate Director of the Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies. They will also be affiliated with the Ph.D. Program in Latin American, Iberian, and Latino Cultures (LAILAC). The Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies works to promote the study and understanding of Latin American and Caribbean cultures and the communities established in the United States by peoples from this vast and extraordinarily diverse region with a special focus on the New York City metropolitan area, and more broadly on the United States. As part of its mission, CLACLS organizes public forums, lectures, symposia, and academic conferences, and Latinos in the U.S. at the graduate level of post- graduate study. CLACLS was inaugurated in October 2001 with the support of a broad cross section of Latin American and Latino-studies faculty specialists representing academic disciplines in the arts, social sciences, and humanities from every CUNY college.
