About the Role Join Villanova University's Structural Engineering Teaching and Research Laboratory as a Research Assistant. This temporary role supports undergraduate laboratories and graduate research projects related to steel, concrete, wood masonry, and composite materials, and involves hands-on testing of beam specimens to compare performance.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the preparation of undergraduate laboratories and graduate research projects related to steel, concrete, wood masonry, and composite materials.
- After proper training, operate tools and equipment including horizontal band saw, milling machine, drill press, annular cutter, circular saw, compound miter saw, concrete/brick saw, angle grinder, concrete vibrator, concrete mixer, and others.
- May operate the SETRL overhead crane after OSHA training.
- Work independently and with graduate students, faculty and staff.
- Aid in the organization and collection of data, general lab maintenance, and cleanup activities.
- Gain hands-on knowledge of structural engineering materials and construction practices.
