Job title: Research Assistant - QMCPy Software Library
About the Role This Research Assistant role is in the Research Administration department at Illinois Institute of Technology, based in Chicago, IL. You will contribute to the QMCPy software library by building out features, preparing documentation and tests, and writing blogs. The position is a 12-week appointment with the possibility of extension.
What You'll Do
- Build out requested features for the QMCPy library and develop accompanying documentation and tests
- Write blog posts describing the features and changes you implement
- Contribute to publications and presentations based on your work
- Apply Python programming and basic software engineering practices to all tasks
- Collaborate with the Research Administration team in Chicago, IL
What We're Looking For
- Command of Python and basic software engineering practices (required)
- Familiarity with QMCPy (desirable)
- Ability to document, test, and prepare materials for publications or presentations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a research environment
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with QMCPy (optional bonus)
- Experience with technical blogging or publishing
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $20 per hour (hourly)
- Duration: 12 weeks with the possibility of extension
