Job title: Research Assistant - Latinx Mental Health & Social Justice Institute (Work Study)
About the Role The Research Assistant will support Antioch University's Latinx Mental Health and Social Justice Institute by contributing to research initiatives and grant/fundraising activities aimed at improving mental health and social justice for the Latinx/e community. This is a remote, part-time, work-study position with weekly supervisor oversight and independent work toward set goals.
What You'll Do
- Attend weekly one-hour meetings with the supervisor and participate in 1–2 hour weekly working sessions with the Institute’s research team.
- Conduct literature reviews (approximately 5–10 hours per task period) and identify resources and dissemination outlets (journals, conference presentations, etc., 2–4 hours).
- Engage in institute projects/initiatives related research and grants as they develop (5–10 hours).
- Support grant writing and fundraising strategies, including exploring grant opportunities and developing fundraising plans (5–10 hours).
- Assist with fundraising initiatives and junior scholarship ideas, including the creation of an academic journal (5–10 hours).
- Assist with IRB documentation, data collection, data analysis, and dissemination of findings as appropriate to the study phase.
- Log hours and submit biweekly activity reports; participate in remote collaboration and resource sharing to amplify Latinx voices.
What We're Looking For
- Strong interest in and basic understanding of the Latinx/e community; commitment to well-being related to mental health and social justice.
- Passion for research, organization, and academic writing in APA format; willingness to learn about research and grant seeking; ability to take initiative to meet institute goals.
- Prior research and grant writing/fund seeking experience preferred.
- Spanish proficiency is not required but valued.
