Job Title: Research and Institutional Desk Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Who We Are

  • We are an African-rooted institution-building firm. Through Facilitation, Advisory, Coaching and Consulting, Training, and Strategy (FACTS), we help organisations, institutions and professionals strengthen their people, systems and performance.
  • The work spans corporate learning and development, organisational development, workforce solutions, strategic advisory and institutional partnerships. We are seeking an Officer to strengthen the evidence, proposals, digital tools and visual materials that support this work.

Role Summary

  • Research and institutional intelligence are core to this role. The Officer will monitor sectors, organisations, funders and opportunities, then turn credible findings into briefs, recommendations, proposals and institutional knowledge. The role also covers proposal creation and editing, simple digital systems and workflow automation, and visual communication.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Research and Institutional Intelligence:

  • Research clients, sectors, funders, partners, policies, market developments and institutional priorities using credible sources
  • Identify and assess grants, tenders, partnerships and other institutional opportunities for the organisations'fit, requirements, deadline, likely value, risks and recommended action
  • Prepare research briefs, organisation profiles, sector scans, case studies and thought-leadership inputs that distinguish evidence, implications and recommendations.

Proposal Development and Editing:

  • Draft concept notes, expressions of interest, proposals, grant and tender responses, business cases, capability statements and corporate profiles with clear solution logic and outcomes
  • Edit and strengthen supplied content for logic, relevance, evidence, accuracy, compliance, consistency and organisation's tone
  • Coordinate inputs, requirements, supporting documents, versions and deadlines until each document is ready for review or submission

Digital Systems and Automation:

  • Identify repetitive tasks and information gaps, then create simple trackers, forms, dashboards and low-code or no-code workflow automations using approved tools
  • Use tools such as Microsoft Excel, Forms, ClickUp, Zoho and approved equivalents to improve data capture, reporting, follow-up and work visibility
  • Use AI responsibly for research, drafting and analysis; verify sources, protect confidential information and document processes so others can use them.

Graphics and Visual Communication:

  • Create professional proposal layouts, presentation decks, covers, infographics and approved corporate or event graphics using PowerPoint, Canva or equivalent tools

  • Translate complex information into clear visuals, maintain reusable templates and digital assets, and check final file quality before use.

  • Who You Are

  • A strong researcher and editor who can find credible information, identify what matters and explain the recommended action

  • Digitally curious and able to turn a recurring work problem into a simple, usable system or automation

  • Takes ownership, uses initiative, identifies gaps or risks and follows work through without repeated prompting

  • Combines clear writing with sound visual judgement and attention to detail

  • Required Experience

  • Three to five years’ experience in institutional research, proposal development, consulting, development programmes, business support, digital operations or corporate communication

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, economics, development studies, communications, English, political science, social sciences or a related field; a strong portfolio may compensate for a less directly related degree

  • Evidence of substantive work across research, proposal writing or editing, and at least one digital system, automation or visual communication output

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Canva, with practical experience using forms, workflow or project-management tools and responsible AI

How Success Will Be Measured:

  • Credible, timely research that gives management clear implications and recommended action
  • Proposals and edited documents delivered on schedule and requiring minimal substantive rework
  • Opportunity assessments that state fit, requirements, deadline, likely value, risks and next action
  • Simple digital systems and automations that improve visibility, reduce avoidable manual follow-up and remain usable by the team
  • Professional visual outputs and a current, organised institutional knowledge and content library
