Job title: Repair Assembly Tech II
About the Role The Repair Assembly Tech II performs hands-on daily work of machine assembly operations in the repair center, under limited supervision from the Repair Center Supervisor. Reads and interprets blueprints and engineering instructions; uses hand tools, power tools, measuring devices and electromechanical equipment to assemble, test, and document machines.
What You'll Do
- Disassembly, inspection, balancing, assembly and testing of all machines processed through the repair department
- Read and follow proper shop procedures; ensure drawings and engineering bulletins are followed
- Read and interpret engineering drawings/specifications; interface with customer occasionally while protecting confidential information
- Use OD/ID micrometers and other measuring tools to verify dimensions; organize disassembly/reassembly pictures
- Provide clear root-cause descriptions to assist in quote preparation; follow the Quality Plan before shipment
- Perform skilled fitting with tight tolerances; interpret Production Order instructions; plan assembly methods to keep progress efficient
- Ensure accurate time is charged to each production order and each operation is completed in SAP
- Troubleshoot machines on test stands (high vibration, temperature, noise, etc); plan to meet delivery commitments (90%+ on-time)
- Maintain a clean, safe 5S work area; perform preventive maintenance; keep tools and equipment in good condition
- Provide feedback to the Production Manager and collaborate with Department Lead Men to resolve issues
- Maintain department organization and participate in related duties as required
What We're Looking For
- High school graduate or GED; trade knowledge equivalent to completion of an apprenticeship program; typically 5+ years of machine assembly experience; some supervisory experience preferred
- Able to use most hand tools and demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments and reading/interpretation of engineering drawings and blueprints
- Machinist skills; experience with rotating equipment maintenance and gearbox repair a plus
- Physical ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods; lift at least 75 pounds; bend and stoop; perform precise hand/finger movements
- Strong writing skills for root-cause reporting and communications; ability to adhere to safety rules and 5S; SAP experience
Nice to Have
- Experience in rotating equipment maintenance and gearbox repair is a plus
- Prior working supervisory exposure
