About the Role This role sits within ENI's Versalis renewable chemicals initiatives, supporting development across biochemistry, circularity and specialized products that align with the bio-economy. It contributes to the company's transformation plan by fostering research across multiple centers and partnerships to advance renewable feedstocks, sustainable production, and plastics derived from recycled materials.
What You'll Do
- Conduct research across the renewable chemicals supply chain at Versalis centers and Matrìca to enable pilot-scale saccharification of lignocellulosic biomass and fermentation to bioethanol.
- Support site-specific production initiatives and collaborate with local biomass suppliers to strengthen circular economy opportunities.
- Work on innovation projects and partnerships to expand the portfolio of renewable intermediates and polymers.
- Contribute to processes that utilize renewable raw materials, reduce CO2 emissions, and improve energy efficiency across production cycles.
What We're Looking For
- Interest or experience in renewable chemicals, biochemistry, biomass processing, and bio-based production.
- Experience with laboratory-to-pilot-scale research and cross-functional collaboration in chemical and polymer contexts.
- Familiarity with saccharification technologies, fermentation to bioethanol, and bioprocessing concepts.
- Ability to engage with biotechnologies, local supply chains, and industry partnerships.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of lignocellulosic biomass saccharification and second-generation sugar fermentation.
- Experience with integrated production models that emphasize circularity, energy efficiency, and CO2 reduction.
